Workplace Wellbeing Academy

It is no secret that wellbeing is high on the agenda. All industries, all walks of life are navigating one of the most volatile and uncertain periods in history. Add to that we are all trying to negate our own personal negative impact on the environment and we have a perfect storm of potential impacts on our wellbeing and that of the planet.

CIWEM is committed to doing our bit for both. We are well known for our work in water and environmental management but a new partnership with The Workplace Wellbeing Academy (WWA) sees us take a big step in our commitment to fostering human wellbeing for our members, partners and broader community.

The experience in delivering global wellbeing programs that The Workplace Wellbeing Academy brings to the table along with CIWEM’s proven high-quality learning content means that these courses will be robust and relevant to our members, partners and associated industries.

Beginning with two introductory courses, Introduction to Psychological Safety and Psychological and Social Support in the Workplace we aim to help you have conversations about wellbeing, move it up the agenda in your teams and organisations and give you actionable tools to move in to action and start creating happier, healthier individuals, teams and organisations.

These two introductory courses are the beginning of a suite of accessible pieces of learning that will continue to build on the skills and tools required to foster wellbeing.

CIWEM’s head of learning and development Darren Eckford says: “I have worked to create happier, higher performing teams across the world for the past 18 years. One of the key issues I see is that wellbeing generally hangs on the work of one inspiring individual or role model. It lacks sustainability and causes severe peaks and troughs over time as personnel within teams and organisations change which is detrimental to wellbeing in itself.

“With these courses, we aim to take the discussion out of the hands of individuals and in to the hands of all, meaning that the processes and behaviours that foster wellbeing become ingrained in organisational and team culture making it more sustainable and consistent for all.”

Glen Ridgway, one of the Founders of Workplace Wellbeing Academy, says:“At WWA we believe that nurturing wellbeing is key to unlocking potential in individuals, teams and organisations. We are excited to put this belief into action through this this partnership.

“These courses will help organisations create sustainable cultural change that will enhance wellbeing, enable more effective teams and lead to them becoming more profitable.”

The courses dovetail nicely with CIWEM’s existing suite of training on urban design for wellbeing delivered in partnership with Urban Wellbeing Solutions.
